PETA and vegan handbag designer Miomojo were backstage at the exclusive Emmys® Giving Suite at The Peacock Theater in Los Angeles this weekend inspiring Emmy presenters, nominees, and winners to wear plants—not animals. During the rehearsal days as well as during Television’s Biggest Night, Emmy winners Katherine LaNasa and Philip Barantini as well as Aimee Lou Wood, Angela Bassett, Bowen Yang, Elizabeth Banks, Patricia Arquette, Ryan Murphy, Tony Goldwyn, and Uzo Aduba were among the stars who selected a Hollywood-worthy, Italian-crafted Miomojo handbag made from apples, corn, or olives.

“Kindness is always on-trend, and Miomojo’s luxurious vegan-leather handbags were quick to win over Emmy stars who love style as much as they love animals,” says PETA Senior Vice President of Communications Lisa Lange. “PETA was delighted to help Hollywood shine a spotlight on how easy it is to cut cruelty to cows and other animals from our closets.”
Leather production kills billions of animals every year and is devastating for the environment. Miomojo – a PETA Business Friend – repurposes agricultural waste from apples, corn, olives, oranges, and rice to create vegan leather that spares animals and reduces environmental impact.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, or Instagram.
