Cincinnati – PETA supporters in Bavarian costumes will offer festivalgoers a splendid sausage surprise by giving away vegan bratwurst outside Oktoberfest on Saturday to encourage everyone to say, “Prost!” to pig- and planet-friendly vegan meats.

When:    Saturday, September 18, 2 p.m.

Where:    At the intersection of Ninth and Walnut streets, Cincinnati

“PETA’s tasty vegan bratwursts will have revelers dancing the Schuhplattler with light feet and light consciences,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “We encourage everyone to pig out in more ways than one!”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.

“Almost all of us grew up eating meat, wearing leather, and going to circuses and zoos. We never considered the impact of these actions on the animals involved. For whatever reason, you are now asking the question: Why should animals have rights?” READ MORE
