PETA is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction on cruelty charges of the person(s) responsible for abandoning a severely emaciated dog in a cage outside Battlefield Animal Clinic at 8138 Sudley Rd., Manassas, on Monday. When clinic staff arrived at around 6 a.m. Monday morning, they found the dog—a male, tan and white pit bull-husky mix—outside the building. The staff provided emergency veterinary care and contacted animal control. The dog was transferred to Prince William County Animal Services Center, where he was euthanized due to his suffering and terrible condition.
Nearby surveillance cameras captured footage of a light-colored sedan, possibly a Lexus, with Maryland tags pulling into an adjacent parking lot at approximately 4:18 a.m. The driver—a male wearing a baseball hat and a white tank top with a dark-colored shirt draped over his shoulders—can be seen removing the cage and abandoning the dog before leaving.
The suspect has not been identified and may have other animals in their possession—and animal abusers are often repeat offenders who present a threat to the entire community.
Anyone with information should contact the Prince William County Police Department tip line at 703-792-7000 or submit a tip to www.pwcva.gov/policetip.

“This poor dog deserved someone he could depend on to keep him safe, fed, and loved, but instead he was starved, dumped in a parking lot, and left to die,” says PETA Senior Vice President Colleen O’Brien, a Prince William County resident. “PETA urges anyone who has any information about this case to come forward and help us get some measure of justice for this dog—and possibly help other animals at risk.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow PETA on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
