What YOU Choose to Gobble Can Save Gobblers Like Travis
If you spotted a strutting, speechifying turkey in a Santa hat around the holidays last year, that was probably PETA’s robot ambassador Travis Beaker (named in honor of Blink 182’s vegan drummer, Travis Barker). Our Travis visited lots of cities to urge people to spare his feathered friends from a nasty end while PETA “elves” gave away free vegan roasts. Passersby were moved by our robo-bird’s message and reported being inspired to swap turkey for Tofurky at their celebrations, while children rushed over to pet Travis.

Now, he’s back out there! And he wants you to help him save turkeys and other animals, too, and PETA’s here to help! Please, participate in the Great Turkey Liberation: • Host a vegan gathering to show friends and relatives how easy it is to create delicious new traditions (we’ve got recipes galore).
• Take a cooked vegan roast to share to any event you’re invited to.
• Organize your own vegan roast giveaway (people love free food).
• Hand out leaflets about wool, leather, and feathers to holiday shoppers (PETA.org/Literature) and leave them around town.
Holiday giving is effective advocacy too!
• Choose vegan foods, candles, clothing, accessories, bedding, and other animal-friendly gifts (see PETAApprovedVegan.com and PETAShoppingGuide.com).
• Make sure beauty products and fragrances are cruelty-free (PETA.org/CrueltyFree).
• Give gift cards to vegan restaurants.
• Sponsor a doghouse and supplies for a dog forced to live outdoors in all weather (see this article).
• When tipping delivery drivers or thanking neighbors, include vegan treats, recipe cards, and vegan starter kits.
• If anyone asks you what you would like as a present, go for it: Ask them to go vegan for a week, watch an animal rights movie with you, or join you at a protest.
The holidays present countless opportunities to help animals. Please gobble ’em up!
