Activate! Liberate! Educate! Inspiring Ideas You Can Use to Change Animals’ Lives

Issue 1|Winter 2026

“I am only one, but still, I am one. I cannot do everything, but still, I can do something.”

—Helen Keller

There are tons of things that need doing. One suggestion is to join PETA’s Action Team: If you can help locally when we need someone to hand out leaflets; scope out a location for a possible demonstration, food giveaway, or billboard; or help rescue an animal in an emergency, we want to hear from you. Get ’Em Stuck on Kindness

When Karin overheard a hardware store employee recommending glue traps, she gently shared facts about how they cause animals to suffer and pointed out humane live traps, which the customer purchased instead. After Derek bought humane mousetraps for his apartment building and pharmacy, they switched from glue traps and poisons. And if Walmart shoppers needed a sign to point them in the right direction, Tabby gave it to them. These small interventions helped spark a big win: Lowe’s recently axed glue traps from its website!

Want a Date? Don’t Tuna Her Out

Alejandra’s dating profile reads, “If you’re holding a fish you caught, please don’t message me.” It has sparked lively conversations about fishing (fish feel pain!) and speciesism. Ready to meet your compassionate match? Join us!

The Way to Anyone’s Heart …

These compassionate cooks prove that all you need to advocate for animals is a spatula. Samantha’s yummy array of appetizers; Angie’s hearty, savory pies; and Fanny’smagical tiramisu” have folks at office potlucks, church socials, and holiday gatherings as well as new neighbors and partygoers asking for their vegan recipes.

Scale Up Your Influence

Influencer Katie’s post about her faux-snakeskin bag and other cool vegan materials garnered a multitude of positive comments and “likes.” PETA’s Instagram, Threads, X, TikTok, and Facebook pages are full of shareable content, or you can collaborate with us. Contact [email protected].

Spread the Word – Literally

These readers prove that literature can liberate. Carla tucked anti-SeaWorld leaflets under doors at hotels near her, Vivian made PETA LAMBS goodie baskets for her church members, Tyrone handed airline passengers and curious workers information about Ethiopian Airlines’ primate shipments to labs, Kelli spotted classic stickering against animal testing, and Cyndi was inspired by another PETA Global reader to leave a trail of vegan starter kits wherever she goes. Follow their lead.

Spayctacular Celebrations

Register for change! Sachin’s birthday fundraiser brought in nearly $1,000 to help PETA India sterilize Mumbai’s homeless cats, Thomas’s garnered a whopping $3,025 for PETA’s spay/neuter clinics, and Dan and Katherine’s wedding guests helped sterilize, vaccinate, and microchip 161 fortunate animals. And if you run, swim, or walk, there’s the PETA Pack (see below).

Runnin’ Down a Dream

Starlynn runs with the PETA Pack, raising funds to help our campaign against horse racing, knowing that horses don’t choose to run to their deaths for human entertainment. Kenzie uses the Strava app – which helps people find running, hiking, and biking routes – and gives her trail segments animal-friendly names such as the Hunting Hurts Embankment and Help Dogs in Hot Cars Parkway.

It Ads Up to Change

Nick in Brooklyn made eyes pop at Popeyes chicken shop, helping PETA ask diners to choose something, not someone, and Luca in Atlanta encouraged Domino’s pizza to make a compassionate moove. Sponsor an ad for your favorite PETA campaign.

Music to a Bug’s Ears

Lena, an early childhood educator with 860,000 Instagram followers, posted a video in which she sings a catchy song for kids about being kind to insects.

A Winning Strategy

When high school officials insisted she dissect a rat and pig to graduate, Sienna refused and used a model kit instead. She earned one of the highest test scores and a peta2 Hero to Animals Award. Find animal-free dissection options at TeachKind.org, and never, ever compromise your values.
