15 Vegan, Cruelty-Free Foundations for Every Skin Tone

Published by PETA Staff.

As hard as it is to believe, cruel, archaic experiments on animals for cosmetics continue, even though non-animal tests are widely available. The good news is that an ever-increasing number of cosmetics companies are becoming cruelty-free and vegan. The following foundations, concealers, and tinted moisturizers, in liquid, crème, and powder forms, come in every shade under the sun for a beautiful (and compassionate) complexion.

1. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics OCC Tint Tinted Moisturizer

OCC is totally rocking the vegan makeup game, evidenced here by a tinted moisturizer made from purified water, coconut, and wild berry and aloe leaf extracts. It’s available in 12 shades.

2. Fevour Cosmetics Mineral Powder Foundation SPF 15

With just three main ingredients, this simple, all-natural mineral powder foundation has an SPF 15 rating to keep skin safe from sun damage and looking refreshed.

3. Black Radiance Color Perfect™ Liquid Make-Up

This gluten-free, cruelty-free liquid makeup can be found at Walgreens and Rite Aid. Its oil-free, full-coverage formula enhances your natural skin tone and never leaves skin looking red, dry, or shiny.

4. Ere Perez Oat Milk Foundation

This lightweight foundation uses oat milk to sooth sensitive problem skin and doesn’t clog pores. Apply a Natural Powder Foundation for a smooth, matte finish.

5. Emani Deluxe Crème Foundation

This crème foundation includes peptides, gold, and peat to assist in reducing the appearance of wrinkles. It provides a light base so that you’ll be able to customize your exact coverage needs. Emani is entirely vegan, so be sure to browse other products, too.

6. Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation

This foundation comes in eight shades to suit your specific skin tone. Infused with Exclusive Cocoa Complex formula, this antioxidant-rich, oil-absorbing, nondrying powder helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines and pores. Try it over the Born This Way liquid foundation, which is available in 18 shades.

7. Zuzu Luxe Oil-Free Liquid Foundation

This vegan formula covers imperfections and evens out skin without being chalky or feeling heavy.

8. Valana Minerals Stardust Luxury Foundation

Valana cosmetics provide lasting coverage naturally and are noncomedogenic, free of irritants, and 100 percent vegan. This array of beautiful shades is all available to order online.

9. Shea Moisture Sheer Mineral Pressed Powder

Blended with shea butter and vitamins A, C, and E, this formula is great for oily skin, as it contains corn starch to help absorb oil.

10. Milani Cosmetics Even Touch Powder Foundation

This velvety foundation is available in nine shades and applies evenly, without looking blotchy or cakey.

11. Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup

This light-as-air foundation gives you the coverage you desire—you can apply it with your finger or a brush to blur subtle imperfections, and it will look and feel like you’re wearing nothing. Be sure to peruse all of Urban Decay’s vegan products while you’re at it.

12. 100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Healthy Skin Foundation

This formula is enriched with antioxidant-packed super-fruits, is rated SPF 20, and is colored from the pigments of fruits and vegetables, rather than from minerals or synthetic dyes.

13. Monavé Vegan Cream to Powder Concealer

Monavé explains that this product is popular among users as an under-eye concealer. Available in 13 shades, it’s made to order and hand-pressed, and if the company doesn’t have a shade that suits your skin, it will custom-make it. Now that’s great service!

14. Pacifica Dreamy Cover Bare-Faced Serum Foundation SPF 20

This foundation is feather-light for a no-makeup feel. Pacifica is entirely vegan, so try products such as a bronzer or blush to finish off your look.

15. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation SPF 15

With 25 shades to choose from, Tarte has you “covered” with its unique formula, made with Amazonian clay, which helps absorb impurities from your skin.
