Meat Free Week is well underway in the U.K., and celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and GQ magazine are sharing some hearty, filling, and thoroughly manly vegan burger recipes that guys all over the world will enjoy.
Oliver’s creation, this burger features a delicious blend of veggies and spices—and there are even instructions for homemade vegan mayo and onion rings. Throw a few of these together next time you’re hosting a guys night to quiet even the meatiest of meatheads, and be sure to let your friends know that each of these burgers contains more than 20 grams of protein.
Now, normally when I turn to an issue of GQ, the only manly things I’m interested in seeing are the models. But take a look at this awesome vegan burger recipe write-up by British GQ writer Paul Henderson that’s featured in honor of Meat Free Week. Simple to prep and mouthwateringly delicious, this burger will satisfy even the hungriest of bros.
NOTE: The recipe calls for honey and optional cheese, so be sure to swap out the honey for agave syrup or another substitute and use your favorite vegan cheese to keep this recipe 100 percent plant-based.
#ProTip: As these recipes are both from the U.K., a conversion calculator may come in handy.
And while Meat Free Week is, as the name implies, just one single week, rest assured that these filling burgers are good all year round—for your health, the environment, and, of course, animals!
