Vegan Food at Epic Universe

Universal Orlando Resort just opened its game-changing new theme park, Epic Universe! We have the inside scoop on the vegan food at Epic Universe and the menu offerings are nothing short of epic.

Epic Universe

Universal promises the next level of theme-park innovation in the new park, which features more than 50 attractions and experiences. Epic Universe is a collection of five immersive worlds themed to iconic stories and entertainment franchises, including The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Nintendo, How to Train Your Dragon, and Universal’s classic monsters.

Vegan Food in Dark Universe

The spookiest of the themed areas in Epic Universe is Dark Universe. The location is set in an eerie village called Darkmoor, where guests can encounter elements and characters from legendary monster stories, including Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, and The Wolf Man.

Das Stakehaus

The village of Darkmoor is home to Das Stakehaus, a restaurant run by vampires who “size up unsuspecting patrons to be part of the vampires’ feast.”

The restaurant menu includes Our Favorite Vegan Familiar’s Stuffed Cabbage, which is cabbage stuffed with animal-free meat served with beet bucatini in a bell pepper tomato sauce.

Vegan Food in Celestial Park

Celestial Park is the hub of Epic Universe, with “portals” that transport visitors to one of the four other themed areas of the park.

Pizza Moon

This pizza place themed to an 18^th-century Victorian theater serves a vegan pizza that Universal bills as a “vegan masterpiece.” The Harvest Moon Pizza features a rich tomato sauce adorned with grilled artichoke hearts, Divina tomatoes and roasted peppers, and is topped with Castelvetrano olives and arugula.

Comet Dogs

The Smoky Carrot Dog features a slow-roasted glazed carrot with vegan feta and micro cilantro inside a ube bun.

Oak and Star Tavern

Oak and Star Tavern is one of several restaurants in Celestial Park and offers several vegan options. For breakfast, it serves an Ancient Grain Tofu Scramble consisting of ancient grain, tomato pepper stew, tofu, and arugula. The restaurant also serves the most epic side, in my opinion—vegan bacon!

For lunch, the Oak and Star serves a BBQ Jackfruit Sandwich, which features four-hour-smoked jackfruit, pickled red onions, and chimichurri on a toasted bun.

Pair your meal with The Plastered Owl, a cocktail featuring dark rye whiskey, simple syrup, cherry syrup, lemon juice, lemon wedges, and muddled cherries.

Atlantic

This ocean-themed restaurant serves an Oyster Mushroom Ceviche featuring marinated mushrooms, tomato, cilantro, jicama, and lime.

Top it off with any of these vegan drinks:

• Aranciata Mule: A mocktail that features San Pellegrino Aranciata, ginger beer, lime juice, black cherry syrup, and an orange wheel and black cherry topping.
• Spice Route Old Fashioned: Features bourbon, date syrup, cardamom bitters, bitters, and an orange twist and cherry.
• Rosemary Paloma: Features tequila, white grapefruit juice, lime juice, rosemary-infused simple syrup, smoked sea salt, Fresca, and a rosemary sprig and dried blood grapefruit slice.
• Melon and Herb Highball: Features gin, basil & cucumber essence, watermelon syrup, and sparkling mineral water, with a cucumber ribbon and a basil sprig.
• The Fountain of Youth: Features gin, vermouth, absinthe, and an orange twist.
• Espresso Manhattan: Features bourbon, agave syrup, espresso liqueur, chocolate bitters, and espresso.
• Grand Atlantic Martini: Features gin, Cocchi Americano Bianco, and a gilded lemon twist

Blue Dragon Pan-Asian Restaurant

Start your meal with the Cold Noodles or the Smashed Cucumbers (or both!). For an entrée, order the Kai Ming’s Mapu Tofu, which features Sichuan chili crisp sauce, vegan ground pork, white rice.

Meteor AstroPub

No theme park is complete without a pub, and this one offers a Vegan Sausage and Peppers dish, which features vegan sausage, pepperonata, basil aioli, arugula, and a toasted roll. Order it with a side of the pub fries, which are vegan!

CelesTiki

Universal calls this the “trendiest tiki bar in the cosmos,” which makes sense as it offers a number of vegan drinks.

• Waturi Punch: A cocktail featuring a blend of rum, bitters, and fruit juices.

• Kunuku Daiquiri: A mocktail featuring strawberry puree, lime juice, simple syrup, strawberry essence, and a hint of smoked sea salt. 

Bar Zenith

This bar serves a fiery cocktail called the Meteor Strike, which features rum, triple sec, zesty lime and pineapple juices, lemon-lime soda, a sprinkle of edible gold glitter, and a flaming sugar cube “meteor” as a garnish.

Frosty Moon

Frosty Moon is an ice cream stand that serves vegan ice cream and vegan chocolate chip cookies, baked in-house.

Vegan Food in the Ministry of Magic™

Harry Potter fans will recognize the Ministry of Magic from the film series and the Fantastic Beasts films. This area of the park is set in a hidden shopping district in wizarding Paris that has several restaurants with vegan options.

Le Gobelet Noir

According to Universal, Le Gobelet Noir is a mysterious inn where “international Dark witches and wizards gather to escape the prying eyes of the Paris Ministry and have a hearty meal over hushed conversation.”

The restaurant offers a Lentil Stew, featuring a hearty stew with vegan bacon and root vegetables. The restaurant’s baklava consists of pistachio, walnuts, vegan anglaise, and coconut nectar.

The Ancient Forest Salad is also vegan and comes with kale, arugula, frisée, cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, and beets drizzled in an herb vinaigrette.

Café L’air De La Sirene

Café L’air De La Sirène is a charming French café that offers a Cassoulet Végétalien aux Haricots Blancs, a stew featuring cannellini beans, vegan sausage, vegan bacon, trumpet mushrooms, carrots, and tomatoes, topped with baguette croutons.

The café also serves vegan croissants and non-dairy Bièraubeurre, a “non-alcoholic sweet drink reminiscent of shortbread and butterscotch,” which is vegan when served cold and without the topping.

Bar Moonshine

This wizarding bar offers a number of vegan beverages including:

• Gigglewater: An amber shimmering elderflower prosecco spritz.
• Lobe Blaster: Features moonshine, limoncello, lemon juice, club soda, absinthe, simple syrup, and a rosemary garnish.
• Sherbert Lemon: Features vodka, herbaceous liqueur, lemon bitters, ginger beer, lemon sugar rim, and edible flower.
• Fleur 75: Features gin, sparkling wine, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, simple syrup, and a lemon spiral.
• Philosopher’s Old Fashioned: Features bourbon, aromatic bitters, simple syrup, and orange zest.

Vegan Options in How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk

This area is themed to the world from the How to Train Your Dragon trilogy and includes attractions, character meet-and-greets, and “flying dragons.”

Mead Hall

Visitors can feast like a Viking at the village’s main gathering hall, which offers Valka’s Vegan Burger, consisting of an ancient-grains patty, mushroom, leeks, smoked berry aioli, arugula, and pickled cucumbers on a pumpernickel kaiser bun.

If you’re going for greens, the Nordic Harvest Salad features kale and arugula greens, red cabbage, radishes, hearty ancient grains, blueberries and crisp apples for a tangy flavor, and a sprinkle of trail mix and raspberry vinaigrette to top it off.

Spit Fyre Grill

The area also features this quick-service location that serves Valka’s Vegan Bowl, a bowl of spring mix blend, bean salad, pineapple salsa, candy beets, vegan feta, and mango & mint vinaigrette.

Vegan Food at Super Nintendo World

This area brings several popular Nintendo games to life, including Mario Kart and Donkey Kong Country.

Yoshi’s Snack Island

The Green Shell Calzone is filled with vegan Italian sausage, marinara, and vegan mozzarella cheese.

Toadstool Cafe

The Super Mushroom Soup is vegan and is a creamy mushroom soup with “Super Mushroom” crackers.
