Vegan chef and restaurateur Matthew Kenney is on a roll with the opening of a new restaurant in his home state of Maine. Arata opens in Belfast on May 27, joining his three other vegan restaurants. Did we mention that he has also started four plant-based cooking academies from the ground up? He’s a busy man.
The Asian-inspired menu at Arata will feature fresh locally-grown ingredients in dishes such as Smoked King Oyster Buns and Kimchi Pancakes with Bibb Lettuce, Sesame, Chili Sauce, and Pickled Vegetables.
Kenney’s website describes the concept for Arata, stating, “[W]e will use this location as an incubator, to test unique concepts, experiment with innovative techniques and introduce new ideas in plant food.”
If you’re in or near Maine, we’re jealous, and you should definitely circle May 27 on your calendar.
