Coffee-Mate Releases 4 Blissful Vegan Creamers
With all the new vegan coffee creamers out there, we thought mornings couldn’t get any better. We were wrong, as Coffee-Mate is now offering four creamy plant-based creamers: Vanilla Almond Milk, Caramel Almond Milk, Hazelnut Almond Milk, and Sweet Crème Coconut Milk.
These vegan “Natural Bliss” creamers are part of the company’s efforts to offer consumers natural, non-GMO products, and we agree that avoiding animal-derived ingredients is definitely the way to go. The new creamers use pure cane sugar, real almonds, Sumatran coconuts, and vanilla beans from Madagascar, and they’re now available at retailers nationwide in 16-oz. bottles for the oh-so-affordable price of $2.79. Note: The hazelnut flavor is available exclusively at Target stores.

Jhung is exactly right. Cows produce milk for the same reason that humans do: to nourish their young. In order to force them to continue producing milk, farm operators typically impregnate them using artificial insemination every year. Calves are generally torn away from their mothers within a day of birth, which causes them both extreme distress. Mother cows can be heard calling for their babies for days. Male calves are destined to end up in cramped veal crates or barren feedlots, where they’ll be fattened for beef, and females are sentenced to the same sad fate as their mothers. As more people learn about this horrid reality, they’re opting to drink and eat with compassion.
