What is PETA’s stance on faux fur?

Our goal is to reduce the sum total of animal suffering. For people who want the look of real fur, faux fur can be a good alternative. It’s important to note, though, that news reports have indicated that major retailers have been found selling real fur that was mislabeled as faux. Of course, if you ever have any doubts about whether an item contains real or faux fur, the best choice is to avoid it altogether.

We understand and respect that many people choose not to purchase any faux-fur or faux-leather products, as they don’t want to promote the fashion. For those who do wear fakes, PETA has pins and stickers to help people make it clear that their jackets and other items weren’t made from animals.
