Costumes, Candy & Compassion: Take These 6 Actions to Help Animals This Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner, but ghostly decorations and spooky costumes aren’t the only terrors taking place this season. In addition to advocating for animals in labs and other cruel industries, we want to be sure we’re not supporting milk stolen from playful cows, eggs taken from caring mother hens, or other creepy ingredients like crushed-up insects this Halloween.

Watch PETA’s most horrifying videos, then take the actions below to help animals who are forced to live in fear all year.

Take the actions below to help animals who suffer real-life horrors:

1. This cruel NIH lab has tortured monkeys for decades. Demand that NIH stop conducting experiments to damage monkeys’ brains before scaring them with fake snakes and spiders!

2. Text HORROR to 73822 to sign up for PETA’s spooky week of action for animals who face real horrors every day in torturous laboratories, violent slaughterhouses, abusive roadside zoos, and more.

3. Did you know some candy contains animal parts as ingredients? Gelatin comes from animal skin, tendons, cartilage, ligaments, and/or bones. The red pigment in carmine color is crushed female cochineal insects, and confectioner’s glaze is made from insect secretions. Help us de-bug candy!

4. Get abducted! Our spooky virtual reality experience travels to college and university campuses across the U.S., putting you in the body of someone being experimented on. With 5 stops scheduled on campuses this season, there may be one near you! Don’t miss out!

Abduction Tour Schedule, Autumn 2026
👽 October 19th – 22nd: Kent State University – Kent, Ohio
👽 October 26th – 29th: Purdue University – West Lafayette, Indiana
👽 November 2nd – 5th: Illinois State University – Normal, Illinois
👽 November 9th – 12th: University of Wisconsin – Madison, Wisconsin
👽 November 16th – 18th: University of Missouri – Columbia, Missouri

5. The company Backyard Brains uses live cockroaches in disturbing “mutilation kits” marketed for children! These “science projects” are not only cruel, but they teach kids that animals who aren’t cuddly don’t deserve compassion. Help end this horrifying Frankenstein-like mutilation.

6. Finally, be sure to pass out vegan candy this year so all children can satisfy their sweet tooth! Bookmark our list of vegan-friendly treats so you can always check that you’re only purchasing compassionate, vegan Halloween sweets.

Thank you for your compassion for animals.
