Dior Continues to Ignore the Violence Behind Angora Wool

Luxury and comfort are things many of us enjoy and aspire to have more of, but not many people aspire to support companies that knowingly profit from animal suffering.

Dior has the power to lead with compassion, but despite knowing of the cruelty inherent in the production of angora wool, they continue to sell it. Rabbits used for angora endure excruciating cruelty: workers pin them down and yank out their hair as the animals scream in agony. Others are restrained and violently shorn, leaving them with painful cuts and wounds. This violent process happens every few months until they die from injury, illness, or are killed when the quality of their hair declines.

Please politely urge Dior to end the use of angora and other cruel materials by taking the actions below. Each action you take puts more direct pressure on decision-makers.

1. Email Delphine Arnault, Dior’s CEO, directly to voice your concerns about the cruelty inherent in angora wool production.

Using your own words will make a greater impact, but feel free to get inspiration from our sample letter.

2. Call Dior customer service at 1-800-929-3467 and politely ask Dior to ban angora. Customer service is available Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (EST) and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (EST).

Speaking from the heart is the most inspiring way to voice your concerns, but if you are struggling with the topics, feel free to check out our talking points below.

Talking Points
  • Christian Dior said,“Women, with their intuitive instinct, understood that I dreamed not only of making them more beautiful, but happier too.” Does Dior think the life-long imprisonment and violent killing of rabbits would make women, or any customers, happier?
  • Dior’s website says, “Dior is committed to increasing formula transparency and promoting responsible beauty practices to meet our customers’ evolving expectations for sustainability”. Selling angora wool is not a “responsible beauty practice!”
  • Does Dior believe that sourcing from businesses whose workers tear fistfuls of hair from rabbits as the animals scream out in pain is promoting “responsible” beauty practices?
3. Comment on Dior’s social channels, urging it to ban angora and other cruel materials. Tagging @Dior helps ensure the brand is notified.

4. Take action in the wild.
  • Leave all clothing with “angora” on the label on the rack. There are so many beautiful vegan clothing options on the market—it is easy to support companies that have pledged not to use angora.
  • If you see a celebrity promoting Dior, leave a respectful comment asking them to stop supporting the company until it bans angora.

Thank you for your compassion for animals.
