Urge Wild Woods Animal Park to Send Animals to Reputable Facilities

Conditions at Wild Woods Animal Park in Clarendon, Pennsylvania, have apparently gone from bad to worse: A recent federal inspection revealed that the roadside zoo didn’t even bother to call a veterinarian for multiple animals in poor condition, including a bobcat so thin that his bones were protruding, an otter who was unsteady and apparently unable to swim, and another bobcat who had a noticeable head-tilt, full-body trembling, and a malformed leg.

Wild Woods has also been repeatedly cited for failing to maintain clean enclosures and failing to provide sanitary drinking water receptacles. The bobcats, otter, tigers, bears, and over two dozen other animals suffering at this roadside zoo need to be transferred to reputable facilities before the conditions there deteriorate even further.

Raccoons are naturally nocturnal and use their extremely dexterous paws to navigate at night. These animals have a heightened sense of touch, and confining them to enclosures with excessive grime and spent bedding, like at Wild Woods, is especially miserable and a form of speciesism—the misguided belief that humans are superior to other animals.
