UPDATE: City Officials Deny Morro Bay Aquarium’s Lease Renewal!

Sea Lion

City officials in Morro Bay, California, voted to deny the notorious Morro Bay Aquarium’s lease renewal request! This means that the current aquarium space will be available to other businesses, and any aquarium proposing to occupy the facility will be required to be accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums—an accreditation that the Morro Bay Aquarium did not have. This important decision gives hope to the animals at this facility who have reportedly been forced to languish inside cramped, dirty, and barren concrete enclosures—with little to no enrichment—for nearly 50 years!

Thank you to everyone who took time to write to Morro Bay city officials!
