PETA has been alerted to a pigeon massacre reportedly underway at The Village of Stuart condo complex in Stuart, FL. According to an email apparently sent recently by the complex’s HOA (screenshot below), a contractor will be at the property multiple times a week blasting away pigeons with an air rifle. These weapons can cause severe and often non-immediately lethal injuries, leading to prolonged pain and distress. Further, lethal initiatives tear apart wild families, leaving orphaned young to starve, and are simply ineffective long-term. A resident reports witnessing pigeons being shot down from rooftops and even out of the sky while attempting to fly over the community. While allegedly stuffing dead pigeons into bags, the contractor reportedly stated that he intended to kill as many as he could, noting that’s why he was hired by the HOA.
