Urge Maritime Travel Stop Selling SeaWorld Tickets

Canadian travel company Maritime Travel continues to sell SeaWorld tickets and tours, even after Sunwing Airlines and WestJet cut ties with the marine park. Executives at Maritime Travel know that SeaWorld’s cruel practices include confining sensitive and intelligent orcas to concrete tanks, giving them psychoactive drugs, and subjecting them to overwhelming physical and emotional stress—which has resulted in the deaths of both orcas and humans.

It’s been years since the release of the documentary Blackfish, but orcas at SeaWorld are still swimming in endless circles and breaking their teeth by gnawing in frustration on the concrete corners and metal bars of their tiny tanks. Other animals are still being impregnated, sometimes forcibly after being drugged. SeaWorld should relocate the orcas and other long-suffering animals to coastal sanctuaries—where they could finally feel ocean currents, hear and communicate with wild pods, and have some semblance of a natural life.

Dozens of companies—such as Hyundai Motor America, Mattel, Mott’s, and Taco Bell—have cut ties with SeaWorld and the abuse of animals there, and Canada now bans whale and dolphin captivity. But Maritime Travel continues to profit from animal suffering. Urge Maritime Travel to catch up to the rest of society and end its affiliation with SeaWorld immediately.
