Update: Birds Reportedly Trapped in Netting at ALDI Store!
Update (May 27, 2026): Authorities tell PETA that the netting has been removed! Birds can now reportedly visit their nests and fly freely without obstruction. Thank you to all who spoke up for these birds!
Original post:
Compassionate ALDI customers alerted PETA to bird-deterrent netting affixed over the grocery cart section of the Coral Springs, FL, grocery store location. Normally, we commend any entity that utilizes non-lethal controls for unwanted animals, however such netting often falls into disrepair, causing gaps through which birds enter who then become trapped, many times fatally. In fact, photos obtained by PETA of this situation depict birds, both alive and dead behind the netting, just as customers had reported. Our attempts to persuade ALDI, both at the store and corporate level, to free the survivors and remove the netting have evidently fallen on deaf ears. Now it’s your turn!
