Speak Out Against Animal Giveaways at the Santa Barbara Fair!

Experts agree that fish are highly complex animals who have the same capacity to feel pain, fear, and stress as mammals do, and they deserve better than to be doled out as trinkets. However, PETA just learned that the Santa Barbara Fair & Expo—located at the Earl Warren Showgrounds—reportedly gave goldfish away as game-booth prizes last weekend, and it will likely do so again this weekend. When kept in captivity, these animals require a sizeable amount of water, climate control and filtration, regular aquarium maintenance, and ample enrichment. Most recipients of these living, feeling “prizes” are hardly prepared for such a commitment, and the animals suffer as a result. PETA quickly asked fair organizers to end this practice, but as of this posting, we have received no assurance that they would. These animals need your help now!
