A Bubble Bath on the Sidewalk? It’s PETA’s World Water Day Protest!

To mark World Water Day (March 22), a nearly nude PETA supporter will bathe in a tub at a busy intersection in West Palm Beach with signs informing passersby how much water is used to produce a single steak and two slices of cheese—and she’ll come clean that the solution is simply to go vegan.
When: Monday, March 22, 12 noon
Where: At the intersection of Clematis Street and S. Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach
“The meat and dairy industries are draining our aquifers and trying to soft-soap everyone into overlooking their damaging role in causing climate change,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA asks everyone to tap into our collective responsibility and go vegan to help save water, animals, and the planet.”
Animals used for food live in squalid, crowded conditions and die in terror in slaughterhouses. Every person who goes vegan saves the lives of nearly 200 animals every year and helps save water, as growing water-intensive crops simply to feed animals raised for their flesh consumes more than half the water used in the U.S. Runoff from animal agriculture is also one of the leading causes of river and lake pollution—and it can contaminate groundwater with viruses and bacteria.
