Climate change will be a major topic during the final presidential debate—so PETA’s “climate change cow” (who met many of the candidates on the campaign trail this year) will greet everyone arriving at the Curb Event Center tomorrow with her “Go Vegan or We All Die” sign in hoof.

When:    Thursday, October 22, 6:30 p.m.

Where:    Curb Event Center, 2000 Belmont Blvd. (near the intersection with Bernard Avenue), Nashville

Clarabelle has the facts: More than 80% of the Amazon rainforest that’s been cleared since 1970 is used for international meat production, which is a major contributor to pollution, land degradation, water shortages, and habitat destruction. According to the United Nations, a global shift to vegan eating is required to combat the worst effects of climate change, as animal agriculture alone is responsible for nearly one-fifth of human-induced greenhouse-gas emissions.

“A discussion of climate change that doesn’t mention animal agriculture is just hot air,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA’s ‘cow’ wants everyone to see the elephant in the room and realize that the meat and dairy industries are killing our planet.”

Note: PETA supports animal rights, opposes all forms of animal exploitation, and provides the public with information on these issues. The group does not directly or indirectly participate or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office or any political party.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, which is a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
