Armed with posters emblazoned with a spoof Canada Goose logo and images reflecting the company’s support of cruelty to geese and coyotes, PETA supporters will hold multiple protests tomorrow on the opening day of the Canada Goose–sponsored Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). A PETA mobile billboard will also circle the TIFF Bell Lightbox and outdoor festival venues CityView and Ontario Place.

When:    Thursday, September 10, 2:30 p.m.–3:30 p.m.

Where:    Outside the TIFF Bell Lightbox, 350 King St. W., Toronto

When:    Thursday, September 10, 8:30 p.m.–9:30 p.m.

Where:    Outside Ontario Place, 955 Lake Shore Blvd. W., Toronto

After hearing from PETA, the Berlin International Film Festival confirmed that it cut ties with Canada Goose in 2017.

“No film festival should welcome a sponsor whose name is synonymous with cruelty,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is urging TIFF to cut ties with Canada Goose until the company agrees to stop supporting the torment and death of geese and coyotes for its coats.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—opposes speciesism, which is a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org.
