What:    Wearing military costumes, combat boots, and holster belts containing ketchup bottles, PETA “commando chicks” will descend on a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Chattanooga on Tuesday to protest the chain’s cruel and hypocritical Cow Appreciation Day. Armed with signs proclaiming, “Appreciate Cows AND Chickens: Go Vegan,” the protesters will hand out delicious vegan chicken sandwiches to passersby.

When:    Tuesday, July 10, 12 noon

Where:    Chick-fil-A, 5830 Brainerd Rd. (near the entrance to the Brainerd Village Shopping Center), Chattanooga

“Not only does Chick-fil-A slit the throats of a staggering number of chickens and scald others to death every year, it also mocks their suffering with tone-deaf advertising campaigns,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA’s militant ‘commando chicks’ mean business when it comes to combating cruelty and turning meat-eaters vegan.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—notes that unlike meaty dishes, vegan meals are free of saturated animal fat and cholesterol. Going vegan also spares nearly 200 animals every year daily suffering and a terrifying death in today’s meat, egg, and dairy industries.
