PETA Kids Will Celebrate Maverick and Me With Crafts and Toy Drive for Homeless Animals

On Saturday, October 21, PETA’s Empathy Center in Silver Lake will welcome author and former first daughter of California Katherine Schwarzenegger for a special reading of her new children’s book, Maverick and Me, followed by a book signing. The book tells the story of a sweet little pup who needs a home—and the little girl who saves the day (and the dog!).

When:    Saturday, October 21, 11 a.m.–1 p.m.

Where:    The PETA Empathy Center, 2624 Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles

The event, hosted by PETA Kids, will also feature hands-on activities for kids, including making catnip toys and coloring “Adoption Is Love” postcards to share with friends and family members. Vegan lunch or snacks will be provided, and admission is free. Guests are asked to bring a blanket, towel, or toy to be donated to Los Angeles County’s Department of Animal Care and Control.
