A repulsive video of a man eating live baby mice that was posted earlier this year has recently reappeared on social media. In the graphic video, laughs are heard as helpless, crawling baby mice are tossed into a dish, dipped in a sauce, and popped into a man’s mouth.

The horrifying dish is called San Zhi Er, or “three squeaks,” after the distressing cries the mice make from being picked up with chopsticks, dipped in sauce, and eaten alive. Some sources claim that the dish is banned in China. However, The Daily Mail and other outlets have reported that it is found throughout the Guangdong (formerly Canton) province.

A Google search reveals that many people have consumed the sadistic meal just for the shock value. In the video below, you can hear a baby mouse cry out in fear before being covered with sauce.

People from all over the world have expressed their disgust at this appalling act and others like it. When a viral video of a bullfrog who was skinned, dismembered, and eaten while still blinking surfaced earlier this year, people were outraged about that, too. And rightly so.

But we hope people will focus some of that outrage on helping the billions of animals who are killed for food each year and arrive on their plates already dead. Cows, chickens, pigs, fish, and all other animals killed for food suffer, whether they’re eaten dead or alive.
