Victory! Rabbits to Be Spared in Taiwan

After an appeal from the Environment and Animal Society of Taiwan (EAST), with scientific support from PETA, the Taiwanese government has agreed to end the use of rabbits in classical swine fever vaccine production by as soon as the end of this year.

As PETA pointed out, superior, non-animal vaccine production technology, including cell culture and recombinant techniques, are readily available and have been in use in the U.S. and globally for many years.

This victory will prevent tens of thousands of rabbits from being used and crudely killed with carbon dioxide during the production of these vaccines in Taiwan every year.
