PETA Christian Community Shows Solidarity by Donating to Church After Racial Attack

This week’s shooting at Charleston’s Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church has prompted Jesus People for Animals—PETA’s Christian outreach division—to rush a letter to the church this morning offering condolences and a $720 donation from its staff members, who took up a collection to show their support for the community.

“We oppose discrimination on any basis, and we believe in nonviolence toward all forms of life,” says Jesus People for Animals Director Sarah Withrow King. “PETA opposes prejudice in the name of race, gender, nationality, species, age, or religion or of any other kind, and we wish church members strength in spreading Jesus’ message of peace and love.”
