PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman has released the following statement on Burger King’s recent marketing stunt that will feature a traveling chicken “choosing” whether chicken fries will return to select Burger King locations:

Even for Burger King—which rakes in profits from the slaughter of millions of chickens every year—this cruel display is beyond the pale. Hauling a hen around the country to “decide” the fate of others of her own kind is a stomach-churning proposition for anyone with a heart, and PETA asks caring people to think about Gloria and how, if the exercise were real, she would never condemn any chicken to a lifetime of suffering on Burger King’s contract factory farms or in its slaughterhouses. The company should cancel this cruel stunt immediately.
