Martha Stewart Asks New York Mayor to Investigate Mysterious Death of Horse in Carriage Industry
Martha Stewart has sent a letter to New York Mayor Bill de Blasio asking for an independent investigation into the recent mysterious death of a horse in the carriage industry. The horse, named Tickles, was put down after he suffered a leg injury.
The questionable death occurred at the same stable exposed last year by the Associated Press for switching an old, sick horse’s ID with that of a young horse in order to keep him working.
In the letter, Stewart writes:
Horses do not break their legs without incident, so this tragic death leaves many outstanding questions, including:
Did Tickles have a history of other health problems?
How long did he have to wait in pain, and what treatment was attempted before euthanizing him?
Did cramped living conditions or other inhumane treatment play a role in his death?
