Rescuing animals in trouble is the most gratifying part of PETA’s work. And these happy endings could not have happened without the generous donations of our members and supporters—it’s that simple! Check out some of the animals who have new lives, thanks to you, and be sure to watch the video:

  • Seventeen bears were rescued from pits at Georgia’s Black Forest Bear Park, where day after day, they saw little besides concrete. Some bears just shut down altogether and would sit and stare at a blank wall. Others paced from one side of the pit to the other for hours on end, a never-ending loop. The only break in their monotonous existence was when visitors pelted them with food from the walkway above.
  • In conjunction with the Atlanta Humane Society and PETA patrons Sam Simon and anna j ware, the bears were moved to The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado, where they are now digging and foraging on natural terrain, snuggling in their dens, and roaming their vast habitats. Life is good!
  • Brace yourself for a dose of cuteness. Three adult pigs and seven piglets were days away from slaughter when two PETA fieldworkers came across them while they were delivering doghouses to “backyard dogs” in rural North Carolina. There was no food and no water, and the dilapidated pen was filled with waste and debris. Imagine their sheer joy upon arriving at the Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary in Maryland, where for the first time in their lives, they have a clean, junk-free living space, room to roam, and healthy, tasty, fresh food. They can explore large pastures, wade in a creek, and take shelter from the elements in a spacious barn.
  • Little JoJo was running loose and could easily have been hit by a car, and chances are, he would have ended up like his mother—chained up 24/7. Then a PETA fieldworker found him. Today, JoJo has the kind of life that all dogs deserve—indoors, with a family who adores him. The mother dog was spayed and now at least has a warm, dry doghouse.
