PETA Statement, re: Ringling Bros. Circus Final Settlement with Animal Rights Groups

Ringling’s owner, Kenneth Feld, should be deeply ashamed of taking money from animal protection groups, but he is not—nor is he ashamed of separating mother elephants from their babies or dragging lame elephants across the country in chains and boxcars and forcing them to perform uncomfortable and confusing tricks over and over again. Ringling is the SeaWorld of the circus industry, imprisoning giant land mammals instead of orcas, and it should be shunned by anyone who appreciates animals in their natural habitats—where they belong.
