Who Is a ‘PETA Person’? An Unstoppable Force for Good!

Issue 3 Summer 2026

Dolly Parton once said, “We can’t just hope for a brighter day, we have to work for a brighter day.” Dolly was true to her words, donating her song “Will He Be Waiting for Me?” to PETA for our heartwarming video starring Kathy Najimy as a woman rushing home to spend time with her dog. Now take a gander at what some other people have done to live Dolly’s line:

Frustrated by the lack of cruelty-free eye-care products like contact lens solution, Stephen Bartell decided he’d create them. PETA Business Friend Clear Conscience is FDA-approved and never tests on animals. (Visit PETA’s Ultimate Cruelty-Free List for other cruelty-free brands.)

Jennifer Graham was only 15 when her California school district refused to let her complete an alternative assignment instead of dissecting an animal. Her lawsuit led to the first dissection-choice law in the US, sparing animals and empowering students to stand up for their beliefs. Now PETA’s Kind Frog is transforming science education in schools across the US.

Ugo Sap was upset by the suffering he saw in photographs of PETA’s veterinary work in Petra, Jordan, where donkeys are forced to haul tourists in all weather extremes. He purchased cotton halters to replace the chains that the donkeys’ owners were using and became a patron of PETA’s work for donkeys.

Sandria Graham, a nutritionist and health coach, saw that vegan health and wellness resources weren’t easily accessible to the Deaf community. So she started offering counseling and classes at ASLVeganNutritionist.com.

Maybe we won’t all change a law or launch a company, but we can definitely all open someone’s eyes. Joelle Vann’s cousin, a Lyft driver in San Diego, talks to passengers about the cruelty behind SeaWorld and has persuaded tourists not to visit the abusement park; Jen O’Connor calls into radio shows and urges listeners to steer clear of roadside zoos, ditch leather and wool, and more. Both are reaching people who may never have considered how their choices affect animals.

PETA people share one thing in common: We take action. Please join us! Share PETA’s videos online so that people realize the alternatives to clothing made of animals’ skins; get involved in stopping experiments on animals, perhaps dissection at a local school; and educate people by slipping our free vegan starter kits into cookbooks and food magazines, leaving them at the gym and in other public places, and never, ever, being silent. We are here to help!
