Ahead of the FIFA Fan Festival kicking off in Miami on Saturday, PETA is plastering bus shelters near Bayfront Park with a series of eye-catching messages in both English and Spanish that urge World Cup fans to give animals an assist by going vegan.

“Cows mourn when a loved one dies, pigs are soothed by music, and chickens form strong bonds, yet billions of these animals are killed every year for a fleeting taste,” says PETA Founder Ingrid Newkirk. “PETA urges everyone to be a game-changer for animals by choosing vegan foods.”

In today’s meat, egg, and dairy industries, animals are raised in filthy, crowded conditions, trucked to slaughterhouses through all weather extremes, and violently killed.

PETA notes that Miami boasts a plethora of plant-powered dining options, including The Cocinita Miami, Love Life Café, and The Plantisserie. In addition to sparing nearly 200 animals every year, each person who goes vegan also dramatically shrinks their food-related carbon footprint and slashes their risk of suffering from cancer, heart disease, strokes, diabetes, and obesity. PETA offers a free vegan starter kit for those ready to make the switch.

PETA’s ads are located on bus shelters along Biscayne Blvd. in front of Bayfront Park.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—points out that when it comes to the ability to feel pain, hunger, and thirst, a cow is a dog is a boy. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow PETA on XFacebook, or Instagram.
