‘Aliens’ to Feast on ‘Astronaut’ on Florida’s Space Coast—What If They Treated Us the Way We Treat Animals?

Following the release of the Pentagon’s UFO files, “aliens” will land on Florida’s Space Coast to offer some food for thought: What if extraterrestrials treated humans the same way we treat cows, chickens, and pigs? The otherworldly visitors will feast on a bloody “human astronaut” as part of PETA’s appeal to urge Earthlings to go vegan and treat all animals with compassion, and PETA supporters will pass out free vegan starter kits to curious onlookers.
“Being confined and killed for someone else’s meal sounds like science fiction, but that’s exactly what happens to millions of animals every day,” says PETA President Tracy Reiman. “All animals feel pain, fear, joy, and love just like humans do, and PETA is urging everyone to make the planet a kinder place by leaving our fellow earthlings off our plates.”

Why: Cows develop friendships over time, chickens enjoy taking dust baths and roosting in trees, and pigs show empathy for other pigs who are happy or distressed—but in today’s meat, egg, and dairy industries, the animals are raised in filthy, crowded conditions, trucked to slaughterhouses through all weather extremes, and violently killed.
