“Wear Your Own Skin!” That’s the message PETA supporters will bring to the grand opening of the new Urban Outfitters at Stonebriar Centre on Tuesday. Waving giant posters emblazoned with the images of cows, goats, sheep, and other animals tormented and killed for fashion, they’ll encourage would-be shoppers to “Please, Wear Vegan.”

“Every leather bag and wool sweater came from an individual who felt fear and pain and didn’t want to die,” says PETA President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is encouraging shoppers to leave cruelty on the rack and opt for fashionable vegan options that leave animals in peace.”

Where: Urban Outfitters, Stonebriar Centre, 2601 Preston Rd. (at the corner of Gaylord Pkwy. And Mall Rd. E.), Ste. 1239, Frisco

When: Tuesday, April 21, 12 noon

Why: Mother goats form strong bonds with their babies, cows have friends and mourn when a loved one dies, and sheep grow depressed if isolated from their flock. But as PETA exposés have revealed, workers leave goats with bloody, gaping wounds at cashmere operations; burn, electroshock, beat, and slaughter cows for leather; and hit, kick, and mutilate gentle sheep for their wool.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow PETA on XFacebook, or Instagram.
