Avian Advocate Kate del Castillo Spreads Her Wings in New PETA PSA
Plumage power! Kate del Castillo isn’t afraid to ruffle some feathers when it comes to speaking up for animals. In our stunning new campaign, the internationally renowned actor and PETA honorary board member is spreading her wings—literally—to deliver an important message: Birds don’t belong in cages.

In an accompanying video, Castillo explains why “every caged bird is a stolen life,” pointing out the stress, loneliness, and deprivation birds suffer when humans steal them from their homes or breed them in captivity to be sold as “pets.” Get a first look here:
In nature, birds stick by their flockmates, preen each other, play, and fly together, sometimes traveling many miles each day in the open skies. These behaviors that define their lives are impossible to replicate in a cage. Many caged birds become depressed and withdrawn, often over-preening themselves to the point of mutilation.
