Dogs don’t belong to any political party, and they shouldn’t suffer because of human political wrangle. That’s why, as federal workers go another week without a paycheck, PETA is inviting them to stop by its Norfolk headquarters to grab a free bag of dog food for their companion animals.

“We know that families may be struggling and we don’t want their dogs to feel the pinch too,” says PETA Senior Vice President of Cruelty Investigations Daphna Nachminovitch. “PETA invites federal workers to visit our Norfolk headquarters and pick up a free bag of dog food to ensure that their companion animals stay healthy and well-fed.”
PETA will hand out bags of V-Dog—a nutrient-dense, 100% vegan dog food—on November 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Seven days a week, 365 days a year, PETA’s fieldworkers go into the poverty-stricken and rural regions surrounding its Norfolk headquarters to provide free services such as delivering custom-built wooden doghouses, straw bedding in the winter, flea prevention, replacing heavy chains with lightweight tie-outs, veterinary care, and more. PETA also has a fleet of mobile clinics which offer low to no cost spay/neuter surgeries, including transporting animals to and from their appointments. Since 2001, PETA’s clinics have sterilized more than 248,750 animals. PETA’s shelter also accepts all animals in need, without admission fees, appointments, waiting lists, or other obstacles.
PETA—whose motto reads that “Animals are not ours to experiment on, eat, wear, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow PETA on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
