Glue Traps Be Gone! Dollarama Ditched the Deadly Devices After Hearing From PETA
Bet your bottom Dollarama—compassion pays off! After hearing from PETA and more than 60,000 compassionate supporters, Dollarama—Canada’s largest dollar store chain—confirmed that it has banned the sale of glue traps. This decision means these torturous devices, which cause small animals and wildlife to suffer in agony, often for days, have been taken off the shelves of more than 1,600 stores across Canada.
Glue Traps Cost an Arm and a Leg—Literally
Glue traps are one of the cruelest methods of killing animals in existence today. Rats, mice, and other small animals—including birds, lizards, and squirrels—who get stuck on glue traps struggle desperately to escape, sometimes chewing off their own limbs before eventually succumbing to starvation, dehydration, asphyxiation, or blood loss.

These vile devices also fail as a long-term solution because they neglect to address the source of the problem: As long as food remains accessible, more animals will move in to take the place of those who have been killed. On the other hand, humane solutions for keeping out unwanted guests—such as securely storing food, sealing entry points, and if necessary, using non-lethal live traps that are checked hourly—are more effective and don’t cause animals to suffer.
We Need This Message to Stick: Glue Traps Need to Go!
Every animal is someone who feels. Rats are empathic, family-oriented individuals who will put themselves in harm’s way to save someone else. Male mice woo their mates with love songs, and baby rats giggle when they’re tickled.
Thanks to PETA and caring consumers like you, glue traps are disappearing from store shelves—and entire cities like Culver City, Ojai, and West Hollywood, California, have passed bans on their sale and use. After hearing from PETA, companies including CVS, Dollar General, Target, Walgreens, and others have stopped selling these cruel devices, and just recently, Lowe’s pulled them from its online store. The momentum is building—let’s keep it going. Help us end the sale of glue traps everywhere:
