No More Woolly Bully in 2026
Out With the Old, and In With the New!
There’s a story out of England about some sheep who learned that they could cross hoof-proof cattle grids simply by lying on their sides or backs and rolling over. Their reward was tasty flowers and vegetables in nearby gardens. While the local townspeople weren’t thrilled by the sheep’s shenanigans, this story illustrates how truly clever sheep are. It’s been shown that these shy, inquisitive, intelligent beings can remember at least 50 individual faces for over two years – even from photographs! – and will stick up for friends in fights. And PETA entities are sticking up for them!

PETA has now released a whopping 16 exposés of more than 150 wool industry operations in seven countries on four continents, showing that the notion that shearing is “just a haircut” is nonsense. PETA Asia’s most recent exposé of wool operations in New Zealand – where shearers beat and kicked sheep and slammed them to the floor – prompted authorities there to launch an investigation into supposedly “quality” wool suppliers that had been implicated. PETA entities’ other exposés netted the first-ever cruelty convictions for sheep shearers anywhere in the world and the first-ever cruelty charges in Scotland for a wool-industry worker. (He pleaded guilty.) PETA entities also helped persuade New Zealand to ban mulesing – in which farmers cut chunks of flesh from live lambs’ rumps – and the Australian government to set a date to end the live export of sheep by sea.
All our supporters play a vital role in each win. So consider PETA’s challenge for the year ahead: Please do not miss a single chance to advocate for animals. They need all of us, every day.
In this bumper holiday issue, you’ll find ideas aplenty. Every article includes concrete actions: Give yourself a star each time you complete one or persuade someone else to. Give yourself two stars if you find other ways to help people see how their behavior and decisions impact animals and inspire them to change. And please let us know. Like those clever sheep in the UK, we must be creative to accomplish our goal: total animal liberation. Now let’s get to work!
There’s a place for you in this vital movement. What will you achieve today?
