Fall Into Flavor With These Pumpkin Spice–Free Vegan Drinks

Every year, when the first leaf turns orange, pumpkin spice is in everything. But here’s the thing: Fall has way more flavors to offer. From creamy vanilla chai to velvety hot chocolate, here are some easy vegan drinks that say, “Hello, sweater weather,” without pumpkin spice. And the best part? They are vegan, so every sip is kind to animals.

1. Vanilla Chai Black Tea

Use Bigelow’s Vanilla Chai Black tea bags. You could also use another brand of chai and add a hint of vanilla. Then, stir in a splash of vegan milk to unlock all the fabulous fall flavors—smooth, creamy, warmly spiced, and just the right amount of sweet. Try it with extra creamy oat milk. After all, calves need their mother’s milk; humans do not!

2. Vegan Hot Chocolate

Vegan hot chocolate is not only a childhood favorite, but a decadent treat you can enjoy on a brisk fall evening. You can buy vegan hot chocolate packets or make it yourself with items you may already have: vegan milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, sweetener, and vanilla extract. And skip the honey! Bees work hard all day making honey. When we use maple syrup, agave, or dates as a sweetener, we spare bees from being exploited for their honey.

3. Mulled Apple Cider

This recipe is like autumn in a mug. You only need apple cider; spices like cinnamon sticks, cloves, and nutmeg; fruit; and a sweetener. Try it in a crockpot! Not only will your drink stay warm, but it’ll make your kitchen smell divine.

4. Vegan Hazelnut Mocha

Warm your favorite vegan hazelnut creamer (or make one), stir in rich vegan dark chocolate with a shot of espresso, and top it all with frothy dairy-free milk. Add a hint of vanilla or cinnamon if you like, and you’ve got a nutty, velvety mocha. Shortcut! Use vegan Nutella instead of the creamer and spices.

5. Vegan Eggnog

Did you know you don’t need eggs for eggnog? Start with cashews and creamy vegan milk. Coconut sugar adds sweetness, while vanilla, spices, and a pinch of salt bring the flavors to life. No eggs needed! Chickens love dust baths, sunbathing, and chatting with their flock. When we skip the eggs, we save them from an existence in filthy, windowless sheds and a painful death./e

These drinks prove you don’t need pumpkin spice—or anything from an animal—to celebrate fall. So, please take a moment and sign our vegan pledge.
