Beyond Ground original in package

Fewer Ingredients, Bigger Flavor: Beyond Meat Launches New Formula

Published by Sara Oliver.

Beyond Meat just unveiled its new animal-free Beyond Ground, and it’s perfect if you’re conscious of processed foods or love a vegan burger. It’s made with only four highly nutritious ingredients, is full of macronutrients, and comes in brand new flavors. Get the lowdown on this new high-protein, minimally processed formula that goes above and Beyond.

What Is the New Beyond Ground Formula Made With?

The new Beyond Ground recipe has just four ingredients:

  • Water
  • Faba bean protein
  • Potato protein
  • Psyllium husk

That’s it—no soy or gluten or long ingredient list. Each serving delivers a whopping 27 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber, and is only 140 calories. Beyond Ground will be available in three exciting flavors in addition to its original, unseasoned flavor: Tuscan Tomato, KBBQ, and Chipotle Pineapple.

Beyond Is Going Above and Beyond: The Less Processed, the Better for You

Unlike Beyond Ground, which has a simple ingredient list and delivers macros and other nutritional must-haves, animal flesh products like hot dogs, deli meats, nuggets, and patties are heavily processed and packed with sodium, additives, and preservatives.

Animal flesh also has zero fiber and is full of saturated fat and cholesterol linked to heart disease. According to a 2015 World Health Organization report, bacon, hot dogs, and other processed meats cause cancer, and red meat—like beef, pork, and lamb—is probably carcinogenic as well. Plus, eating animal protein has been linked to the development of endometrial, pancreatic, and prostate cancers, while plant-based protein sources contain healthy fiber and complex carbohydrates. By replacing animal-derived protein with vegan proteins like Beyond Ground, you can improve your health while enjoying a wide variety of protein-dense, nutritious, delicious foods. Thankfully, an array of studies show that while eating meat increases the risk of breast, prostate, bladder, colon, and other types of cancer, being vegan may protect against it—and vegan foods don’t require the killing of billions of cows, chickens, and other animals annually, like the meat and dairy industries do.

Animals Suffer When Used for Their Bodies

Cows, chickens, and all animals killed for their flesh suffer immensely in the meat industry. On today’s farms, animals used for food are crammed by the thousands into filthy, windowless sheds or stuffed into wire cages, metal crates, and other torturous devices.

Cows form deep bonds with their calves and grieve when they’re separated—something that happens every year in the dairy industry. Some mother cows call for their babies for days after workers take them away. Once their bodies are worn out, mother cows are killed for their flesh. These social, sensitive animals do not want to be exploited for food.
