Glenville, NY Reportedly Culled Beavers—Urge Them to Commit to Nonlethal Methods!

Recently, residents of Glenville, NY, were outraged to learn that the town had hired contractors to cull local beaver populations, reportedly using medieval devices known as Conibear traps, which cause immense suffering as they slowly crush or drown their victims to death (which for beavers can take more than 15 agonizing minutes). And the traps are indiscriminate, posing risks to “non-target” victims as well.

PETA reached out to the acting town supervisor urging him to commit to only using humane wildlife control going forward and advising him that killing or otherwise removing beavers (or any wildlife!) is ineffective, but we were met with silence. Now it’s your turn!

Please politely urge the acting town supervisor to stop the alleged massacre of these wild animals, who are simply trying to eke out an existence and provide for their families, and instead focus on humane measures that are tried and true:
