GOOOAAAALLL! Angel City forward Christen Press and former Player of the Year Tobin Heath have teamed up with their adopted dog Bobbi for a striking new PETA campaign that encourages people to find their perfect match by always adopting animals and never buying them from pet shops or breeders.
In an accompanying video, Heath shares that Bobbi started out as a foster, but she and Press soon realized that the pup was a keeper: “She has changed my life. She has given me so much more than we could have ever imagined. It’s really cool to have an extra heartbeat in the house.”
Press adds, “Being an athlete is all about discipline and sacrifice but we’re transitioning into a next phase of life now and thanks to Bob, there’s nurturing, love and care here. Be an MVP, adopt, don’t shop.”

With millions of homeless dogs and cats in the U.S., animal shelters across the country are constantly overburdened. That’s why PETA advises guardians to have their animal companions spayed or neutered and to adopt animals instead of buying them from breeders or pet stores. For those who aren’t yet ready to make a lifelong commitment—or who have the time and space for another companion—fostering an animal can improve their chance at adoption by getting them out of a stressful shelter environment and giving them opportunities to exercise and socialize. It also creates room for more animals in the shelter.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow PETA on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
