UPDATE: Speak Out Against Barbaric “Steer-Tailing” in Illinois!
PETA and many of you urged Ogle County officials to halt a twisted activity known as “steer tailing” at Rancho La Esperanza in Rochelle, Illinois, which was scheduled to recur on June 15—after several steers had been horribly injured there on May 25.
We have learned that Ogle County officials failed these animals, yet again, and that at least nine steers were maimed when their tails were manually torn from their bodies.
Otherwise known as “Coleadero,” steer-tailing involves having a man on horseback force a running steer to the ground by violently wrenching the animal’s tail. Dismemberments and other injuries are commonplace. Horses are also routinely wounded during these atrocities whenever collisions occur.
Illinois Humane Care for Animals Act prohibits cruel treatment, aggravated cruelty and animal torture.
Please take a moment to demand that the following officials ensure that all “steer tailing” events are stopped.
