State Police HQ to Face PETA Ruckus Over Inaction in Turkey Abuse Case

PETA supporters will confront state police at the department’s headquarters with large photos of abused turkeys and signs reading, “File Cruelty Charges!” and “Why No Arrests Yet?” on Thursday, nearly nine months after PETA provided police with video evidence of workers at Plainville Farms suppliers across southern Pennsylvania kicking, stomping on, beating, throwing, and mock-raping turkeys. Despite the meticulous documentation PETA gave the agency, no cruelty-to-animals charges have been filed against the abusers.

Where:    Pennsylvania State Police Department Headquarters, 1800 Elmerton Ave., Harrisburg

“Turkeys were left convulsing in agony on the floor after workers callously abused them on camera,” says PETA Vice President of Evidence Analysis Daniel Paden. “The turkeys at Plainville are protected under the law, just as dogs and cats are, and PETA urges the state police to hold their abusers accountable.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
