‘Climate Change Cow’ to Hit Fenway Park With Free Vegan Jerky

Ahead of Earth Day on April 22 and in response to the Red Sox’s pledge to make Fenway Park carbon neutral by allotting a portion of ticket sales to carbon offset purchases, PETA’s “Climate Change Cow” mascot, Clarabelle, will moove to Beantown. Alongside a herd of PETA supporters, she’ll pass out free vegan jerky to fans and push Fenway to address the climate catastrophe fully by becoming an all-vegan stadium, as animal agriculture alone is responsible for nearly one-fifth of human-induced greenhouse-gas emissions.

“A claim of going carbon neutral that doesn’t address the impact of animal agriculture is just hot air,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA’s ‘cow’ is calling on Fenway Park to score a home run for animals and the planet by striking out meat and dairy and embracing tasty vegan food, from Buffalo cauliflower wings to meat-free burgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
