‘Bloody’ PETA ‘Snakes’ to Hang From Hooks Outside Louis Vuitton

After a recent PETA Asia investigation into two Indonesian slaughterhouses that supply LVMH—which owns Louis Vuitton—revealed that pythons were beaten with hammers, cut open with razorblades, and likely skinned alive, a team of “bloody,” “scaly” PETA supporters will hang from hooks outside the company’s New York store on Thursday. The action is the latest from the group, which is demanding that Louis Vuitton ban exotic skins, as Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Carolina Herrera, and other designers have already done.

“Slitting snakes open with razorblades is gruesome, not glamorous,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is calling on Louis Vuitton to end exotic-skin sales today, before another animal dies in agony.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
