Windsor, N.C.

With temperatures expected to plummet this week—and because animals who are forced to live outdoors on chains or in pens can suffer from frostbite and exposure and can even die—PETA is taking straw bedding to the parking lot behind the town hall in Windsor on Friday. Residents can pick up one bag of straw per dog to help insulate the animals’ outdoor shelters.

When:    Friday, January 7, 12:30–2:30 p.m.

Where:    The parking lot behind Windsor Town Hall, 128 S. King St.

“Being left outdoors in the cold causes terrible misery and can be a death sentence for a dog,” says PETA Senior Vice President Daphna Nachminovitch. “While PETA urges everyone to keep dogs indoors with the rest of the family, we’re offering a small measure of help that will make a huge difference in dogs’ lives.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
