PETA ‘Lobster’ Mascot to Be ‘Boiled Alive’ at Local Park

On Thursday, a PETA supporter posing as a lobster will thrash around inside a giant tank at Congress Square Park to give passersby food for thought about the way lobsters suffer when boiled alive and to encourage people to empathize with them and eat vegan.
When: Thursday, October 14, 12 noon
Where: Congress Square Park, at the intersection of Congress and High streets, Portland
“Lobsters are intelligent, social individuals who feel pain and fear, just as you and I do, and don’t want to be boiled alive,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA urges everyone to make the switch to delicious vegan seafood, which leaves aquatic animals safe and sound in their ocean homes.”
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
