PETA ‘Blesses’ Local Churchgoers With Heavenly New Billboards

Any day is a good day to earn a place in heaven. That’s the message on PETA billboards that just popped up near churches across the city. The billboards feature a “Vegans Welcome” sign on the pearly gates.

“Jesus would weep at the conditions for animals on cramped, squalid factory farms that treat God’s creations like unfeeling and disposable things,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “PETA’s billboard reminds people, Christian or not, that avoiding flesh is the ultimate act of mercy.”

In Genesis 1:29, it is written that God provides “every seed-bearing plant” and “every tree whose fruit contains seed” as food for humans, with no mention of slaughter. PETA also notes that the Bible depicts its only hunters—Esau and Nimrod—as rebellious and unspiritual and that God issued “Thou shalt not kill” as a commandment. Yet the meat industry forces animals to endure painful mutilations, such as castration and tooth “clipping,” on farms and to die in agony in slaughterhouses.
